At the border
These apply when you cross the border. They are separate from your visa application.
Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)
Citizens of the eTA-required countries and territories need an eTA and a valid passport to board a flight to Canada. No visitor visa is needed. An eTA is not needed when arriving by car, bus, train or boat (including cruise ships), but it is needed to board a boat from Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon (excluding cruise ships). Citizens of some visa-required countries may be eligible for an eTA instead of a visa when travelling by air.
No start date has been confirmed. Applies to you if you do not need a visa.
